Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)
The mission of the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), as an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is to serve the public by using the best science, taking responsive public health actions, and providing trusted health information to prevent harmful exposures and disease related to toxic substances. ATSDR is directed by congressional mandate to perform specific functions concerning the effect on public health of hazardous substances in the environment. These functions include public health assessments of waste sites, health consultations concerning specific hazardous substances, health surveillance and registries, response to emergency releases of hazardous substances, applied research in support of public health assessments, information development and dissemination, and education and training concerning hazardous substances.
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
CDC's Mission is to promote health and quality of life by preventing and controlling disease, injury, and disability. CDC seeks to accomplish its mission by working with partners throughout the nation and the world to monitor health, detect and investigate health problems, conduct research to enhance prevention, develop and advocate sound public health policies, implement prevention strategies, promote healthy behaviors, foster safe and healthful environments, provide leadership and training. Those functions are the backbone of CDC's mission.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
OSHA's mission is to assure the safety and health of America's workers by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach, and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual improvement in workplace safety and health. OSHA and its state partners have approximately 2100 inspectors, plus complaint discrimination investigators, engineers, physicians, educators, standards writers, and other technical and support personnel spread over more than 200 offices throughout the country. This staff establishes protective standards, enforces those standards, and reaches out to employers and employees through technical assistance and consultation programs.
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency is to protect human health and the environment. Since 1970, EPA has been working for a cleaner, healthier environment for the American people. EPA employs 17,000 people across the country, including our headquarters offices in Washington, DC, 10 regional offices, and more than a dozen labs. Our staff are highly educated and technically trained; more than half are engineers, scientists, and policy analysts. The Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) mission is to responsibly adopt and fairly enforce rules and regulations consistent with the statutory authority granted to the Alabama Environmental Management Commission (AEMC) and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) to protect and improve the quality of Alabama's environment and the health of all its citizens. Monitor environmental conditions in Alabama and recommend changes in state law or revise regulations as needed to respond appropriately to changing environmental conditions.

State of Arkansas Departement of Environmental Quality (ADEQ)

California Environmental Protection Agency Office of the Secretary (Cal/EPA)
The California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) was created in 1991 by Governor's Executive Order. The Florida Department of Environmental Protection is the lead agency in state government for environmental management and stewardship. The Department is divided into three primary areas: Regulatory Programs, Land and Recreation and Planning and Management. Georgia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP)

Hawaii Department of Land & Natural Resources (DLNR)
The Department of Land and Natural Resources is a state agency charged with the stewardship for 1.3 million acres of Hawaii state lands. It is our task to manage and regulate land and ocean uses consistent with the goals of the Hawaii State Constitution. Our management philosophy is "sustainability" which is to ensure that we maintain quality resources for future generations. This philosophy is based on a hierarchy of "resources (protection and conservation) first, public (use of resources) second, commercial activity third."
Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)
DEQ is a state department created by the Idaho Environmental Protection and Health Act (Idaho Code §39-101 et seq) to ensure clean air, water, and land in the state and protect Idaho citizens from the adverse health impacts of pollution. As a regulatory agency, DEQ enforces various state environmental regulations and administers a number of federal environmental protection laws including the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.
Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA)
The mission of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) is to safeguard environmental quality, consistent with the social and economic needs of the State, so as to protect health, welfare, property and the quality of life.

Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality
The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality's mission of the environmental services program is to ensure that the citizens have a clean and healthy environment to live and work in for present and future generations. This will be accomplished by regulating pollution sources; permitting activities consistent with laws and regulations and providing interface between the department and businesses and customers; providing outreach and educational materials to the public and businesses related to pollution, manifests, recycling, and litter; providing environmental assistance and improved public participation to small businesses, schools, complaints hotline, and community/industrial relations. The North Dakota Department of Health, Division of Air Quality works to safeguard the environment for North Dakota. Enforcement of state and federal environmental laws is accomplished through permitting, inspection, sampling, analytical services and monitoring activities of the division.
Ohio Environmental Protection Agency
Ohio EPA establishes and enforces standards for air, water, waste management and cleanup of sites contaminated with hazardous substances. Texas Commision on Environmental Quality
The history of natural resource protection by the State of Texas is one of gradual evolution from protecting the right of access to natural resources (principally surface water) to a broader role in protecting public health and conserving natural resources for future generations of Texans. Natural resource programs were established in Texas at the turn of the 20th century, motivated initially by concerns over the management of water resources and water rights. In parallel with developments in the rest of the nation, and at the federal level, state natural resource efforts broadened at mid-century to include the protection of air and water resources, and later to the regulation of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generation.
