Nationwide Disaster. 1 Priority. Your Solution.

DID YOU KNOW...
In 10 minutes, a hurricane releases more energy than all of the world’s nuclear weapons combined.
Six inches of moving water can make you fall.
You should use a stick to check the firmness of the ground in front of you if you have to walk in moving water.
You should not drive into flooded areas. If floodwaters rise around your car, you should abandon the car and move to higher ground if you can do so safely as you and the vehicle can be quickly swept away.
Six inches of water will reach the bottom of most passenger cars causing loss of control and possible stalling.
A foot of water will float many vehicles.
Two feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles including sport utility vehicles (SUV’s) and pick-ups.
Flood water may be contaminated by oil, gasoline, or raw sewage and it may also be electrically charged from underground or downed power lines.
In areas where floodwaters have receded, the roads may have weakened and could collapse under the weight of a car.
You should use extreme caution when entering buildings as there may be hidden damage, particularly in foundations.
You should clean and disinfect everything that gets wet from excess moisture and/or standing water.
Mud left from floodwater can contain sewage and chemicals.
After natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, and floods that excess moisture and standing water contribute to the growth of mold in homes and other buildings.
Mold may be present and may be a health risk if there has been water damage due to: flooding, sewage back-up, plumbing or roof leaks, damp basements or crawl space, overflows from sinks or bathtub, or high humidity (i.e. from steam cooking, dryer vents, humidifiers).
